AgeLine Search Results
Viewing and Printing AgeLine Search Results
AgeLine displays search results in chronological order, starting with the most recent publication year. The system defaults to retrieving a maximum of the 200 most recent items that fit your search query, with 25 items shown per viewing page. For more information, see the Search Help topic Limiting Number of AgeLine Items to Display. Clicking the NEXT ITEMS button will take you to the next 25 items in the search result.
The Brief-Display Format
By default, the system will display the retrieved items in their brief format. This format includes the title, journal title, audience, author, page range, availability, subjects, and publication information, but it excludes the abstract.
If you would like to print all of the 25 items appearing on your screen, simply use the print command on your browser. The brief-display items will print exactly as they appear on the screen.
To view or print the next 25 items, click the NEXT ITEMS button.
The Abstract-Display Format
The abstract-display format includes the abstract in addition to the brief-display information. To view the items with their abstracts, there are two options:
- Click the ABSTRACT box in each individual item or
- Click the VIEW ABSTRACTS button at the top or bottom of the page.
If you would like to print all of the 25 items appearing on your screen, simply use the print command on your browser. The items with their abstracts will print exactly as they appear on the screen.
To view or print the next 25 items, click the NEXT ITEMS button and use your browser's print command.
Note: The display format (brief or with abstracts) will remain operative until you change your option or leave the AgeLine search session.
Marking Specific Items from a
Search Result for Displaying or Printing
If you would like to be selective in viewing or printing your search results, the system allows you to select individual items in either the brief- or abstract-display formats.
- Click on the MARK ITEM box to place a check mark beside the item. You may select any number of items from any number of screens of one search result. Click again to deselect a specific item.
- Click on VIEW MARKED ITEMS to view all the items you have selected.
- The set of selected items can then be viewed together in either the brief- or abstract-display formats by clicking the appropriate button at the top or bottom of the screen.
- Use your browser's print command to print the set of items exactly as they appear on the screen.
- While you are in the AgeLine search session, marked items will remain marked and will continue to accumulate until you click the CLEAR MARKED ITEMS button on your search results screen.
- If you click the VIEW MARKED ITEMS button without having marked any items, all of the items in your current search results will display (100 per page). This will also happen if you click the CLEAR MARKED ITEMS button and then click the VIEW MARKED ITEMS button. However, if you mark some items in your current search results or in subsequent search results, only the individually marked items will accumulate in your marked items set and will be displayed when you click the VIEW MARKED ITEMS button.
Downloading and Saving Search Results
If you plan to download multiple items, use the MARK ITEM box to first select the items you want. Click the VIEW MARKED ITEMS button to pull them together into one display page before downloading. To save or download, there are two options:
- Display and highlight the items you want to save, and copy and paste the selections into a text editor or word processing file. Setting up the file with Times New Roman font will preserve most of the formatting.
OR
- Display the items you want to save and use the File/Save As (or equivalent) browser commands to save your displayed items as a text file. The File/Save As commands will only save items displayed on that page (maximum of 25 items per "Search Results" page and 100 items per "Marked Items" page), not the entire search result. Some browsers allow the user to continue appending documents to the saved file; others require that each page of results be saved into a separate document and combined later.
